ABOUT

LimitSpace is a first-person puzzle game where players take on the role of a man trapped in a virtual space. They must uncover the connections between puzzles and find their way to escape the game.

Restricted perspective

In this game, the restricted movement mode creates a limited viewpoint for players, allowing me to easily design visual guidance priority. I can create different compositions on all four walls, distributing puzzles in various locations. The different compositions in each direction also create a sense of psychological implication, suggesting limitations for the players.

Intuitive puzzle and key

Designing props based on familiar real-world objects allows players to quickly understand their purpose. By retaining the characteristic parts of the props and building upon their existing forms, the models are designed with artistic enhancements.

This approach prevents players from wasting time contemplating the purpose of the props and allows them to focus on their functionality within the game.

I used colors as hints for players in my game. The main color scheme of the scenes consists of black and gray, while the items are designed with high saturation colors as their primary tones. For example, the lock and key in the same puzzle would share the same color to create a visual connection.

After conducting playtesting with players, I gradually realized that the simple lines were not effective in 3 points:

As a result, I have totally iterated the models and switched to another shader to create a more visually engaging experience. This change not only added tension to the visuals but also better rendered a sense of oppressive game atmosphere.
